From the mouths of babes

We had a wonderful Memorial Day morning.  Jack and I got up early to do our new summertime chores:  checking on the chickens, watering the garden, hanging the laundry on the line, etc.  As a reward, we decided to go to our “special place” – a local coffee shop that serves delicious pastries.  While Jack was enjoying his treat, he offered me the following insight.

“Mommy, I McQueen.”

That’s neat.  He has loved the star of Disney’s Cars movies for a long time, but he has never before related to McQueen in this way.  We talked about it a little – the sounds McQueen makes, and how McQueen likes to race.  It was a very sweet exchange.

And then he offered me his next little gem.

“Mommy, you Mater.”

Um…what?

“You Mater.”

So, while Jack is the speedy race car, I’m the goofy gap-toothed sidekick, voiced by Larry the Cable Guy.  That’s how Jack sees dear old mom.

Are you sure Daddy isn’t Mater?

“No Mommy.  Daddy not Mater.  Mommy Mater.”

Great.  Thanks, Jack.  I love you too.

Happy Memorial Day, everyone!

Looks at it this way. Everybody loves Mater. Not to meantion he’s always there for McQueen. That’s pretty awesome in my book.
