Book giveaway: “It’s Easy Being Green”

Kermit the Frog had it all wrong when he lamented that it isn’t easy being green.  Going green doesn’t have to be an “all-in” proposition.  Little by little, we can all take baby steps towards greening our lives.  Crissy Trask’s book, It’s Easy Being Green, is a handy little guide to doing just that.  Trask’s book covers everything from green shopping to activism to identifying earth-friendly products.

The book’s matter-of-fact tone is neither preachy nor extreme, and everyone from the most moderately green to the fanatic environmentalist can take something away from Trask’s comprehensive lists.   What I really like about the book is the organization of the tip lists:  they are sorted by topic, and each tip has three boxes by it.  On your first read through the book, check the boxes of ideas you want to try.  Then, once you are working on a particular tip or task, check the second box.  The last box is to rate your success on that tip on a scale of 1-5.  What a great way to measure and record progress.

The book is small and is written in a way that makes it fun to browse in small doses – another plus!

We have just one car and use public transit/walking/biking as much as we can. We also are cutting back on household paper usage…slowly but surely!
