How To Minimise Getting Germs From Your Pets

If you own a pet or is someone who has ever owned a pet then you know what it feels like to have one. They are basically a member of the family and are treated as such. It has been proven that pet owners have better overall health and overall better quality of life compared to those who do not have pets or have never experienced what it is like to have pets. As much as we do love our pets they also love running around outside chewing on all sorts of crazy things and bringing in germs into the house. They don’t do this on purpose though. Having said that it is still a wise decision to make sure that you do not get any unwanted germs from your dogs.

Our pets carry a lot of germs on them, as do we, however, that’s another story. Pets have a lot of germs in their paws, fur, and mouths. There are a few things that we can do to prevent the spread of these germs to us. At the same time, you also need to make sure that what you use to clean your house does not end up harming your dog.

So what kind of infections can we get from our dogs? Dogs carry around bacteria like staphylococcus and salmonella, these can cause infections in us. Although it is quite rare to get an infection from your pet it’s never a bad idea to still practice good hygiene and therefore reduce your risk. A good place to start is to vaccinate your pet. Make sure you also incorporate some sort of reminder system so as not to forget the next vaccination.

Make sure that your hands are always washed after playing with them and also encourage your children to wash their hands especially before doing things like eating. Avoid allowing the pets to walk on places like the kitchen countertops end tables. Just to be on the safe side before you eat on any table or surface make sure that you wipe it with a disinfectant wipe.

The final thing that can be done to combat germs from your pets is to always clean the floor. The best way to clean your floor and your home if you have pets is to use a microfiber mop. Microfiber mops are very special cleaning tools. They are able to actually remove germs compared to cotton mops that only move germs around. Hospitals use microfiber mops because of their incredible ability at removing germs.
